World's First 3.55MW Low-Speed Permanent Magnet Ring Motor Dedicated for Mills Officially Rolls off Production Line
On February 10, Jiangsu Jasung Intelligent Industrial Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Jasung") held a rollout ceremony for the world's first 3.55MW low-speed permanent magnet ring motor specifically designed for mills.
Standing nearly 10 meters tall and weighing approximately 135 tons, this equipment marks another global first introduced by Jasung in the past two years. Its successful rollout signifies a significant engineering breakthrough for China in the field of ultra-high-power, large-size, low-speed direct-drive mill equipment. For the first time, the permanent magnet ring direct-drive structure has created a specialized driving configuration for the new generation of mills, offering a novel engineering pathway for the evolution of mill drive systems.

At the ceremony, relevant leaders from the Changzhou Municipal Committee, the Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, and other governmental bodies were present to witness the event. Industry association leaders, including Jing Xiaobo, Vice Chairman of the China Heavy Machinery Industry Association, Zhang Yongjie, Executive Director of the China Iron and Steel Association, and Jiang Shengcai, Vice Chairman of the China Metallurgical Mine Association, as well as representatives from industry enterprises such as Baotou Iron and Steel, CITIC Heavy Industries, and Jinan Heavy Industries, also attended. The gathering of multiple stakeholders reflects not only recognition of Jasung's phased technological achievements but also the industry's high level of attention to the new generation of mill drive technology.

As a core piece of equipment in mining, metallurgy, and other process industries, mills operate under high-load, high-impact, and high-energy-consumption conditions. The reliability and efficiency of their drive systems are directly related to the stable operation and overall benefits of the entire production system. The newly launched low-speed permanent magnet ring motor is specifically developed for such extreme working conditions.
The device eliminates the traditional "large ring gear + small gear" transmission structure, achieving a gearless mill drive system. Drive torque is transmitted directly through the electromagnetic field, without the need for gears or mechanical contact transmission, significantly shortening the transmission chain. Under low-speed, high-torque conditions, the system's efficiency improves by approximately 12% to 15%, with notably enhanced operational reliability. According to calculations for typical working conditions, a single mill can save about 1.5 to 2 million yuan annually in electricity and maintenance costs.

In terms of engineering validation, the 3.55MW low-speed permanent magnet ring motor has successfully completed full-condition formal testing. Under conditions such as ultra-high power, low speed, high-impact loads, and continuous operation, it has demonstrated excellent engineering adaptability in structural strength, electromagnetic stability, thermal management, and system integration, laying the groundwork for subsequent demonstration applications and promotion.
As a company with long-term expertise in permanent magnet direct-drive technology, Jasung has consistently focused on heavy-load, low-speed, and high-reliability application scenarios, continuously improving its R&D and testing systems to advance technology from the laboratory to engineering sites. The rollout of the world's first 3.55MW low-speed permanent magnet ring motor for mills is not only the completion of a "hundred-ton" heavy equipment but also a critical step forward for China's heavy-duty mill drive technology toward higher efficiency and reliability.

Witnessed by multiple stakeholders, this achievement has also opened new possibilities for the engineering application of the new generation of mill direct-drive technology.
