From January 6 to 8, the 2024 Annual Summary Conference for the Steel Extreme Energy Efficiency Project was held in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province. The conference released the 2024 version of the Extreme Energy Efficiency Technology List (T80) and the 200th report of the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) platform for the entire steel industry chain. Industry experts were invited for specialized discussions. Notable attendees included Gan Yong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Jiang Wei, Deputy Secretary of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association, who engaged in in-depth discussions on energy conservation and carbon reduction in the steel industry.
The Steel Extreme Energy Efficiency Project, as part of the national strategy, aims to promote energy-saving and carbon-reduction transformations across the entire industry. Since the project's inception, the steel industry has achieved significant reductions in energy consumption and carbon emissions through systematic energy-saving modifications. This summary conference further emphasized the need for the industry to focus on optimizing all process nodes to comprehensively enhance energy efficiency and achieve a low-carbon transition.
PART 01: The Key Role of Permanent Magnet Motors in the Steel Production Process
Under the "dual carbon" goals outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan, the steel industry faces immense pressure for energy conservation and carbon reduction due to its high energy consumption. Rolling Process: In the rolling process, permanent magnet motors improve overall equipment energy efficiency and reduce electrical energy waste through efficient power transmission and precise control in cooling cycles.
Waste Recycling and Transportation: The application of permanent magnet motors and permanent magnet electric rollers in waste transportation and recycling equipment not only enhances resource recovery efficiency but also effectively reduces system losses, supporting the green circular development of the steel industry.

In his speech, Secretary Jiang Wei emphasized that the Extreme Energy Efficiency Project, as one of the three major initiatives in the steel industry, is essential for serving national strategies and aligns with the demand for low-carbon transformation in the new era.
